California’s coast wide marine protected area (MPA) network was established on a regional basis from 2007-2012, and has now been in place for two years. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife works with various partners on MPA monitoring efforts, which are now underway across the state. If you’d like to learn more about these efforts, information can be found on the California Department of Fish and Wildlife website, or join in a special event “10 Days of MPAs” hosted by Ocean Spaces where daily updates from the monitoring community at large will be posted December 8-19.
